On Sept. 5, at a press conference during the BRICS Summit in Xiamen, Xi used the idiom 层出不穷 to refer to how the leaders of the five BRICS countries view the world’s challenges. He noted that the BRICS countries are influential countries on the world stage, so should promote the establishment of international order and defend basic international norms.

我们五国领导人认为,当今世界正在经历深刻复杂变化,世界经济增长前景好转,但各种全球性挑战层出不穷。金砖国家都是具有重要影响的国家,应该深化在重大问题上的沟通和协调,推动建立更加公正合理的国际秩序;应该发挥建设性作用,捍卫国际关系基本准则,维护国际公平正义;应该合作应对各种全球性挑战,推动开放、包容、普惠、平衡、共赢的经济全球化,加快全球经济治理改革,提高新兴市场国家和发展中国家代表性和发言权,为各国发展创造良好外部环境。
