Chinese Media Analyst – SOSi

Overview

Exovera LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SOS International LLC, is seeking two remote consultants to perform Chinese-Language media monitoring and international analysis for an initial 6-month period (with the possibility of additional work). The consultant(s) will have strong Mandarin Chinese reading comprehension skills and an interest in international affairs, including current events and political, economic, and security issues in Asia. Demonstrated analysis experience as well as education and experience in fields such as the social sciences, international affairs, security, communications and telecommunications, media, data science/analytics, or public relations, are also sought.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors Chinese and English-language, traditional and social media sources and selects and categorizes content according to specific guidelines and requirements
  • Contributes to a team of analysts by providing insight and analysis pieces related to media content and current events
  • Learns and interacts with online tools, including media aggregators, Artificial Intelligence, analysis systems and databases (training is provided)

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree and 1-2 years of experience (or a Masters Degree) in a relevant discipline such as International Relations,Communications, Political Science, History, Sociology, or related field
  • Strong interest and knowledge of regional and global current events
  • Ability to quickly process and organize large amounts of information and identify and assess items of greatest importance
  • Comfort and experience managing information and performing sophisticated analysis in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to write in professional English
  • Interest in helping learn about and develop and train Artificial Intelligence tools
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Maturity, honesty, and integrity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity/experience with current events in Asia
  • Experience with strategic communications, information technology, or quantitative analysis/analytics
  • Experience related to media monitoring and sophisticated analysis, including an ability to identify biases and remain objective
